Margao, Jul 22: A third unit in the Cuncolim industrial estate has reported corona-positive cases. After four people from the industrial unit tested positive the steel plant was temporarily closed. Sources said that of the 47 swab samples taken from Cuncolim and surrounding areas, 16 were from those working in this industrial estate, out of which four tested positive.
Following the rise in positive cases in the Cuncolim industrial estate, call for declaring the area as containment zone has grown.
Meanwhile, eight new cases were detected in areas under the Margao urban health centre on Tuesday, taking to the tally of corona-positive cases to 55. The cases under the jurisdiction of Vasco PHC shot to 356 on Tuesday. Over 11 new cases were detected on Tuesday in areas coming under the jurisdiction of the Cortalim PHC.
