Mangalore, Mar 3: With the view to sensitize MSW students regarding the issues of women Shree Devi Institute of Social Work will hold a two-day seminar on Women’s issues-The present perspective in the seminar hall of the college on Thursday March 4 and Friday March 5.
Professor Chinnappa Gowda, registrar, Mangalore University will inaugurate the seminar on Thursday at 10.30 am. Dr Rameela Shekar, head, department of psychiatric social work, Roshni Nilaya will be the guest of honour. A Sadananda Shetty, chairman, Shree Devi Education Trust will preside.
The seminar will cover issues like changing status and roles of women in India, women and law, women and health, women and media, gender, religion and women.
Vishal Samartha, assistant professor of Sahyadri College, Fr Saleen Thomas, director, Chavara Academy of Life Skills, Sullia, Mariella D’Souza, selection grade lecturer, KMC, Dr Lena Ashok, MSW course co-ordinator, Mangalore University and professor Udaya Kumar, SDM Law College will be the resource persons.
The valedictory function will be held on Friday at 3.30 pm. Sonia Hegde, principal, Shree Devi College of Fashion Designing will be the chief guest and Maina S Shetty, secretary, Shree Devi Education Trust will preside.
