Bengaluru, Jul 18: The BJP government which rose to power in Karnataka during a difficult phase with the efforts of Yediyurappa will be completing one year in office on July 26. The party has not yet decided about celebrating this, in view of the prevailing coronavirus situation. At the government level, however, a simple programme is on the anvil.
The senior officials had discussed about the completion of one year in office, but the chief minister had not given enough thought to it. Even when the ministers raised the issue, he had not attached too much importance. He used to say that working to bring corona under control should be the first priority and everything else can wait.
Now, based on the suggestions made by some ministers perceived to be close to him and officials, the CM has given them green signal to prepare for the celebration. The CM's office has asked the departments to list out their achievements. A mini booklet being brought out on the occasion will mainly relate to the challenges faced by the government in the face of heavy rainfall and coronavirus situation and measures taken to meet the challenges.
Yediyurappa has agreed to celebrate the occasion in districts under the leaderships of the district in-charge ministers at simple functions. There is a proposal to hand over facilities to beneficiaries at these programmes.
Even though there is also a proposal to celebrate the occasion like the central government did through virtual rally, party sources said that an official decision is yet to be taken on the matter and that before that discussions will be held with top leaders at the centre.
