Bengaluru, Jul 16: As the second PU results have been published, the department of higher education has given a green signal to begin the admission process in degree colleges for the academic year 2020-21.
The department of collegiate education has issued separate guidelines for securing admission into colleges. It said that none of the students seeking admission should be rejected. It also asked all the principals to take steps to resume the courses which were suspended last year because of no takers.

The department said that no students should be admitted into courses like BA, BBM, BCA etc or combinations if the student strength is less than 15. "If less than 15 students get admission into these courses, they should be offered courses or combinations available in that college. No new courses or combinations can be started. For language subjects, if less than five students get admission, such students should study on their own. For combinations including optional Kannada, minimum student strength is five," the department stated in its order.
After sharing the workload to lecturers as per rules, the remaining workload if less than four hours should be managed by the existing lecturers. No guest lecturers should be appointed for this workload. Principals and students should take a personal interest in increasing admission by contacting PU colleges located in the neighbourhood and by providing details about combinations and facilities available in the college. Details of courses available and fee structure should be published on the college website and notice board, the department said.
As the government had cancelled several examinations, it has decided to extend 50 per cent concession in the semester examination fee. The students had sought a refund of such examination fee but deputy chief minister Dr Ashwath Narayan said that evaluation process is involved even when an examination is cancelled and assured that he will instruct the concerned to extend 50 per cent concession on semester examination fee.
