Mangaluru/Udupi, Jul 15: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday July 15 recorded 73 cases and four deaths. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 53 new cases.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 25,265 samples have been sent for tests so far. As many as 22,740 have turned out negative, and 2,525 are positive till date. Out of these, 1,379 cases are currently active. As many as 1,089 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 57 deaths have occurred so far.
As many as 104 patients were discharged on Wednesday from Wenlock as well as private hospitals.
Of the 73 who tested positive on Wednesday, 11 are primary contacts, 23 have ILI symptoms, three have SARI symptoms, three has international travel history, one has inter-district travel history, and contacts of 32 are being traced.
The patients whose deaths were reported on Wednesday are a 60-year-old female from Sullia who also had diabetes and was on ventilator, a 73-year-old male from Bantwal who had pneumonia and was on ventilator, a 70-year-old male from Bantwal who had acute kidney disease and on ventilator, and a 68-year-old female from Bantwal who was also suffering from diabetes.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,875 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, and a total of 4,875 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 1,766 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 160 people are in isolation wards, including 21 fresh admissions on Wednesday. Among the new admissions, two are coronavirus suspects, seven have SARI and 12 influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,198 people, including 23 on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 23,108 samples have been collected so far, including 460 on Wednesday, out of which 69 are COVID suspects and 186 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 20,667 samples have turned out to be negative, including 832 on Wednesday, and 655 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,786 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 53 on Wednesday. As many as 1,382 patients have been discharged so far including 22 on Wednesday, and 401 cases are currently active. Five deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
The 53 cases reported today include 24 men, 22 women and seven children. As many as 18 belong to Udupi taluk, 29 are from Kundapur and six from Karkala. Out of the 53, two each had travelled from Bengaluru and Mumbai, 16 have ILI symptoms and 33 are primary contacts of earlier patients. Six people who tested positive are from district hospital Ajjarkad which include two doctors.
