Bantwal, July 15: “Hard work is the inspiration for achievement,” said Fr Gregory Pereira of St Joseph Church, Soorikumeru.
He was speaking as he congratulated Class 12 students, Alicia Leema Pereira and Melita Pais, of Puttur’s St Philomena College who secured highest marks of 97.3% and 95.16% in commerce and science exam of second PU examinations.
“The achievement of these students has brought repute to our parish. The Church's YCS unit and the post of officers were administered by the two students with a service-oriented mentality. Their achievements in the PU exam are results of their hard work,” he said.
Church parish pastoral council vice president Alias Pereira and Convent head Sr Nancy conveyed their best wishes.
Alicia’s father Avil and mother Lidia Pereira and Melita’s father Marcel and mother Lena Pais said that they are proud of their daughters. “The congratulatory message by Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik over the phone to the daughters made us happy,” they said.
Church parish pastoral council secretary Mary D’Souza, Soorikumeru St Joseph English Medium School headmistress Sr Lovita, Steven Pais and Anita Roshan Martis were present.
Former president of parish pastoral council Roshan Boniface Martis compered the programme.
