Bengaluru, Jul 14: "The state government has failed to effectively handle the coronavirus situation. The people therefore are confused and fearful. Many are leaving the city and returning to their villages. This mass migration has given rise to a sense of fear among the villagers. Failure of the government is the root cause for this problem," said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar.
Shivakumar said that his party lays more emphasis on serving the people rather than indulging in politics. "We are prepared to deploy our party workers to get involved with corona control and service of the general public during the lockdown period. I have already asked chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa, through a letter to utilise their services," he claimed.
Speaking to media persons at the KPCC office here on Monday July 13, he said his party does not want to speak about the government's lockdown decision and that he will not interfere with administrative matters of the government. "We have been saying that we have to face corona apolitically but the BJP is indulging in politics in this matter," he said.
He said that the government is mired in confusions as Yediyurappa is not in a position to trust anyone. He pointed out that the CM had appointed health minister as corona in charge and then chose medical education minister for that job before changing his mind and settling for education minister. He said that because of confusions and failures of the government, people are frustrated and hence returning to their villages
