Mangaluru, Jul 14: Three fishermen who left from Ullal for fishing got stuck at sea after the boat developed technical problems. They were stuck there for 16 hours before fishermen from Bangra Manjeshwar rescued them. The incident happened on Monday July 13.
The boat titled 'Hayan' is owned by Asif from Ullal. Three fishermen had left for fishing in that boat on Sunday at 6 am. After the boat reached the middle of the sea, its engine developed some problem and it became impossible to move the boat. The fishermen Bala, Nagaraj and Sukumar from Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, who now work as fishermen at Ullal, survived by consuming food and water they had taken with them.
Rescued fishermen
KMK Rashid from Bangra Manjeshwar came to know about the problems of the fishermen. On Monday morning, he went into the sea with fishermen Dhanaraj, Musafa Manjeshwar, Hanif Bangra Manjeshwar,Mohammad and Razack, rescued the fishermen and brought them back to the shore. The fishermen are safe. The boat too has been brought to the shore. The people have appreciated the gesture of the fishermen from Manjeshwar in helping those in need of urgent help.
