Udupi: City municipality penalises construction firm for road filled with sludge

Udupi, Jul 11: City municipality has fined a prestigious building company of the city Rs 25,000 for making the Kalsanka-Ambagilu road completely filled with sludge due to its construction work.

From the past some days, the said building construction company was carrying the excavated mud from its D-Mart company building construction site in trucks. While transporting the mud, it used to get spilled on the road due to improper covering of the truck. Pedestrians and two-wheeler riders had complained to the city municipality in this regard as this was causing danger for two-wheeler riders and probability of slipping and falling for pedestrians.

Responding to the complaints of public, Mohanraj, engineer of city municipality slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on the company and asked them to stop its work immediately.

The company immediately paid the fine. The city municipality has also taken an undertaking from the company that in future any recurrence of the same will attract more heavy fines and also the company has to clean the road that is filled with sludge.
