Kundapur, Jul 11: “As COVID-19 pandemic is spreading everywhere, for self-awareness and public welfare, we, all the retail traders have decided to resort to self-imposed bandh in Kundapur municipal council limits from July 13 every afternoon from 2 pm,” said the traders. They held a press conference at Hotel Shrarone here in this connection.

“All the customers have agreed to this. The bandh will not apply to medical shops, milk booths and restaurants. Bakeries selling milk may do so outside the shops. The spread of the pandemic can be controlled to some extent in this manner,” they said.

Advocate Sridhar P S said that the decision was taken after obtaining opinions from traders. “We have submitted requests to the assistant commissioner and police officials. We are confident that the bandh will be successful,” he said.

Traders Vijayananda Shetty, Jewellers Association’s Sathish Shet, municipal council member, Abu Mohammed, Tabrez, Sathish Shetty, Santhosh, Jaswanth Singh, Surendra Shet Hussain and others were present. A request was submitted to the assistant commissioner, K Raju about the bandh later.
