Sullia, Jul 9: The gram panchayat administration has filed a police complaint against two persons for performing 'Kutti Puja' connected with housewarming ceremony thereby violating the corona guidelines and bringing people there in violation of quarantine rules. This happened at Chembu in the taluk on Wednesday July 8.
A person from Karike in Kodagu had tested positive for coronavirus infection. He is being treated at the COVID Hospital Madikeri. 'Kutti Puja' was performed at the house of Melchembu Purushotham from Chembu village on Tuesday night. Purushotham's family member, Pujarigadde Laxmisha, had brought family members of the corona infected person's family from Karike to the above function by car.
The panchayat administration came to know of this incident on Wednesday morning. When they visited the spot they found that the family of the corona infected person had participated in the said programme and that over a hundred people had come together for the function. All of them were asked to undergo home quarantine. In addition, Chembu panchayat filed a complaint at Sampaje police station with respect to the said incident.
The complaint has named Purushotham for violating the government guidelines on function, and Laxmeesha for overlooking quarantine rules.
