Bantwal, Feb 23: To commemorate the 150th death anniversary of Patron St John Marie Vianney, a three- day prayer service was held at Bambil Church here for all those who wished to visit the place and renew themselves spiritually.
On Friday February 19, Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas and Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza preached the prayer life of St John Marie Vianney which included adoration, way of the cross and the Eucharist.
On Saturday February 20, Fr Boniface Pinto, director, Mangalajyothi, preached on "sin and need conversion". Later "Taize prayer" was held for the youth of the Bantwal Deanery. The Jesus Youth Movement members from Mangalore under the leadership of Anil led participants into a prayerful experience.
On Sunday February 21, way of the cross and adoration was conducted by Fr Henry OFM Cap, Farangipet. The spiritual programme was concluded with the solemn Eucharist. It was presided over by Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese.
On the occasion the devotees had the opportunity for confession. Fr Cyril Noronha, Fr Edwin Correa and Fr Joseph Uday assisted at the confessionals. The progamme was arranged by Fr Vincent Coelho, parish priest, St John Marie Vianney Church.
