Mangaluru, Jul 5: Coronavirus is continuing its barrage in Ullal area of the city. On Sunday, July 5, 50 people have tested positive for the virus, local media reports claimed.
Out of the 50 infected people, 48 are from the area which falls within the limits of Ullal city municipality. Most of these are people on whom random test was conducted.
More than 160 people have tested positive for coronavirus after a woman died due to the infection recently. Even then it has been found that people in the area are roaming without face mask protection.
Many were seen taking joyrides on vehicles avoiding the check points of police. Some people were even selling fish at Ullal junction.
Police have installed barricades in Thokkottu, Kuthar, Ullal, Kotekar, Beeri, Talapady, Deralakatte, Mudipu, Konaje and Asaigoli. The cops allowed only essential service vehicles like ambulance, milk van and newspaper delivery vans. Other people, who were just roaming around were sent back by the cops.
The roads in the border area between Karnataka and Kerala were deserted as there were no city buses.
