Mangalore, Feb 21: The department of community medicine, as part of implementation of directives of the UGC to educate students on the hazards of addictives, conducted a symposium on alcohol and drug addiction at KSHEMA on Friday February 20.
The dean, Dr Arunachalam Kumar inaugurated the symposium. Dr Navin Chandra, consultant psychiatrist attached to rural psychiatric health programme at Nitte was the chief resource person along with Dr J Majra and Dr Satish Rao. Students took active part in the day’s deliberations.
Dr Mirajkar, coordinator of Continuing Higher Education Cell of Nitte University, moderated the proceedings. Dr Das Acharya, HOD of community medicine welcomed the delegates. Professor Wanjpe proposed the vote of thanks. Over 125 participants took part in the symposium. Dr Jaiprakash Shetty, registrar, KSHEMA was also present.
