Bengaluru, Jul 4: Former chief minister and leader of the opposition in the state assembly, Siddarmaiah, has alleged that financial irregularities amounting to Rs 2,200 crore have been committed by the state government in the procurement of medical equipment relating to coronavirus treatment. Addressing a press meet here on Friday July 3, he demanded for a probe into the charge.
Siddaramaiah claimed that the state government has spent over Rs 3,000 crore for coronavirus management. He demanded for issuance of white paper in the matter by the state government, duly giving itemwise expenditure. At the same time, he demanded for setting up of a committee with members from all the political parties to keep vigil on corona management, expenses etc.
Reacting to the allegation, medical education minister, Dr K Sudhakar, said that no irregularities have been committed in the procurement of equipment needed for coronavirus control.
