Vijayapura, Jul 3: BJP workers have been accusing party MLA, Basangouda Patil Yatnal, of being responsible for the defeat of BJP candidate in the zilla panchayat president election held recently, in spite of having requisite numbers. The workers held a protest against four BJP zilla panchayat members who were involved with anti-party activities in the election, as a result of which the ZP president post went to Congress.
The party cadres are blaming internal understanding between Yatnal and former minister and Congress MLA, M B Patil, for this result. Local leaders and senior party leaders have orally complained to the state unit of the party, urging them to initiate action against those responsible for the shocking defeat. The party activists belonging to Vijayapura Mandal unit expressed their anger by burning the effigies of four BJP ZP members who voted for the Congress candidate.
