Beltangady: Arrested accused turns corona-positive - Four policemen quarantined

Beltangady, Jul 2: A person who was arrested on June 28 by the police personnel of Dharmasthala station tested positive for coronavirus. The arrested accused is facing charges connected with the abduction of a minor girl and booked under different provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

In addition to the police personnel, a home guards volunteer and the family members of the girl involved have been quarantined. The accused stands admitted into the government hospital at Mangaluru.

A 22-year-old lady from Koyyur in the taluk who was serving as nurse at the Lady Goschen Hospital Mangaluru has been confirmed to have contracted coronavirus infection.

A hotel owner from Bantwal town was found to have been infected. The hotel in question and his residence have been sealed down, and the hotelier's wife has been subjected to home quarantine. A pregnant woman from Haleangady, who had recently come home from Mumbai along with some others, has also been tested positive. She is in the eighth month of her pregnancy. The tests conducted on others who accompanied her however, have proved to be negative.

Puttur

A constable of the taluk women's police station at Puttur and a resident of Shantinagara, Kodymbady who used to cook food at the government hospital have also been tested positive for coronavirus infection.
