Bengaluru, Jul 1: It is learnt that a 52-year-old garment factory owner, who was suffering from acute breathing problems, went from one hospital to another seeking treatment. However, sadly, he did not get admission even after visiting 18 hospitals, and passed away. The incident happened on Sunday and the matter came to light with delay.
The man, who was fighting to breathe, visited these hospitals, telling them about his breathing difficulty and seeking treatment. But leading hospitals from the city turned him away, saying that they do not have spare beds.

Finally the man was subjected to a coronavirus test at the Rajajinagar hospital. From there, he was sent to Bowring Hospital. However, the man breathed his last before getting admitted into Bowring Hospital, it is gathered. It is as yet unknown whether he was suffering from coronavirus infection or not.
State minister for Health and Family Welfare & Backward Classes Welfare, B Sriramulu, in a tweet said, “Notice is served to several hospitals, based on the report that appeared in media, for denying treatment to a 52-year-old patient, who needed emergency medical attention.
"It is not only inhuman but also against the law to deny medical treatment during emergency giving lame excuses. During this Covid-19 pandemic, there is pressure on everyone. But I request the medical fraternity to respond suitably to the patients, who are in urgent need of medical assistance. I will not tolerate neglecting and denying medical assistance to patients siting any excuse,” the minister said the tweet.
