Mangalore, Feb 19: National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NITK), Suratkal near here, which is in its golden jubilee year, is celebrating the occasion in a grand manner. As part of the celebrations, it will be organizing a three-day cartoon and caricature exhibition-cum-workshop in its premises. The workshop, on the subject of ‘how to draw cartoons’, is meant for the students of the engineering colleges at the NITK campus.
The exhibition will be held from February 25 to 27. Dr Sandeep Sancheti, director of NITK, will inaugurate the exhibition at 10 am on Thursday February 25. The main focus of the workshop will be, ‘Climate Change, Environment, Global Warming Awareness through Drawing of Cartoons’.
Students from national institutes of technology spread out all over India are expected to take part in the workshop. Renowned ‘Daijiworld’ cartoonist, Harishchandra Shetty (Harini) will be the resource person for the programme.
Harini will conduct the workshop. The three-day cartoon exhibition on global change in environment is being organized jointly by Gerebare School of Art, Ambaagilu, Udupi and NITK Suratkal. 20 cartoonists from all over Karnataka state will take part and exhibit their cartoons at the cartoon exhibition.

Some of the veteran cartoonists who will take part in the exhibition are, Panduranga Rao and Prakash Shetty from Bangalore, Dr Sathish (Sringeri), Sathish Acharya, cartoonist of Midday Mumbai, K R Swamy (Bangalore), V Gopal (Bangalore), Gurudutt (Hyderabad), Padubidri Mohammed from Prajavani Bangalore, James Vaz from Taranga Manipal and S V Padmanabha from Kannadaprabha Bangalore.
