Udupi, Jun 30: Barkurians worldwide celebrated the feast of St Peter, patron Barkur parish on June 28 and on June 29. The virtual feast celebrations included an offering of Holy Mass and the 'Kanthar Fiesta 2020' organized by St Peter's Association (R) Mumbai.
The Holy Eucharistic Mass was celebrated by Fr Reginald Pinto director, SAMPADA. In his homily, he stressed upon 'without crossing the worst situations no one can touch the best corners of life.... Have the spirit of understanding everything in a positive way whether it is the pressure of COVID-19 or pleasure of Patron's feast.' He also highlighted the life of Apostle, his weakness and strengths, the values he stood for and the courage he demonstrated in leading the Early church He also narrated that the 'change in life is essential, whether it is a sudden or long evolutionary process, we must be prepared for what God is expecting from us and utilize the talents within us.'
Fr Philip Nery Aranha parish priest Barkur and Fr Walter Mendonca parish priest, Sasthan were the co-celebrants for the Eucharistic celebrations.
The Eucharistic celebration was streamed live on YouTube and Facebook so that the people could also witness it.
Every year as part of the Patron's feast, St Peters Association (R) Mumbai conducts various cultural events. For the current year, a virtual cultural event 'Kanthar Fiesta 2020' was organized by the association.
Kanthar Fiesta includes Konkani songs presented by renowned musicians and singers of Goa, Mangaluru, Mumbai including Barkurians.

The singers presented soulful Konkani music to the audiences.
The first of its kind virtual musical show was a grand success and will be held again on Sunday, July 5.

Osvin Rebello (Mumbai), Jessica Banz Almeida (Brahmavara), Franklin Fernandes, Janice Fernandes from Barkur hosted the cultural events.
Herald D'Souza vice president and Parish Council members of St Peter's Church, Barkur Ivon Rebello, president SPA Eric Carvalho, secretary John Gonsalves, treasurer and other members of association toiled to organise the event along with Kishoo (Barkur/Abudhabi) and media partner Alwyn Andrade (Barkur). The video editing was done by David Cardoza (Barkur) and Kiran Carvalho and Dylan D'Souza of Mumbai assisted in the technical setup.
