Udupi, Jun 30: Dr Amina Meera, a homoeopathic practitioner in Super Bazar, Udupi has suggested that free homoeopathic preventive medicines for coronavirus, Ars Alb-30 for the general category and Camphor-1M for the high-risk category patients should be repeated every 15 days due to rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases in Udupi district and the early onset of monsoon.

Amina has been a homoeopathic practitioner for 32 years and has received approval from the AYUSH ministry on March 6, to hand out the homoeopathic immune booster for coronavirus. Lately, she has been providing immune booster for the virus for free of cost. The act has been receiving good responses from people across the state and abroad.

Speaking on the situation prevailing in the district, Amina said, "Udupi was in the green zone, due to an influx of people coming in from different states and majorly from Maharashtra, the epicentre of the virus in India, it is getting difficult to control the spread of infections. Since the past one month, the weather is beginning to change and therefore exposing people to cold weather which will result in sneezing, sore throat, fever etc."

Amina stated that she has been delivering the medicines since May 20 with 47 members, which has now reached 6,500 people. She maintained that the dispatch work is still in progress. "Some people have completed two to three courses. We have been getting orders from Bengaluru, Sindagi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot and many other districts. We have also made deliveries to Saudi Arabia, Dubai, but due to lack of accessibility we have not been able to deliver to Sharjah," she added.

"We were successful in making deliveries to 18 families in Maharashtra and to 18 families in Jharkhand with the help of DTDC. I have personally invested close to Rs 70,000 in this process, but I am not expecting any return on my investments. There are also several people who are coming forward to volunteer. I also receive calls in the evenings and give them a prescription. I feel content in providing selfless service," said Dr Amina.

In Udupi, we have given the medicine to 21 ASHA workers, security staffs and sanitary workers. The tablet will not impact the health of a BP or a diabetic patient or other vulnerable groups. There is no side effect of the tablet but, it should be kept away from children, Dr Amina stated.

"Those who want to order the pills, they should provide us with their name, age and occupation of all the family members. Our team is expecting to reach more people," she maintained.

We are trying our best to reach all the people who have collected their first course when we began the distribution on May 20. This leads to the second dosage falling on June 6. The medicines can be collected 2-3 days prior to the due date and stored in an air-tight box to avoid moisture. The information and instructions regarding the doses will remain the same," Dr Amina said.
