Bantwal, Jun 29: "The government at the Centre is fooling people and raising the fuel prices in the country while the prices have reached rock bottom in international markets,” alleged former minister B Ramanath Rai.
He was speaking at a protest rally from B C Road Kaikamba to B C Road junction condemning increasing the prices of petrol and diesel. “During UPA rule, when the price of crude oil was USD 140, the price of petrol was less than Rs 60. The crude oil prices have reached USD 40 now but the Centre is increasing the prices. This could spike the rates of daily commodities. Coronavirus is not the only reason for financial difficulties in the country but the failure of the Indian government too,” Rai said criticizing the Centre.
A jeep was pulled tying rope during the protest rally. An appeal to reduce the prices was also sent to the government later through the tahsildar.
