Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 29: Dakshina Kannada on Monday June 29, reported 32 new cases in the district and a death. Meanwhile, Udupi reported 18 fresh cases.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 47,526 people have been screened so far, including 444 on Monday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 13,440 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 12,587 have turned out negative, and 705 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 265 are currently active. As many as 426 persons have recovered and been discharged including four on Monday, and 14 deaths have occurred so far, including one on Monday.
As many as four patients, including one woman, were discharged from Wenlock on Monday.
As many as 148 samples were sent for testing on Monday. Reports of 458 samples were received on Monday, out of which 32 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 148 samples are awaited.
Of the 32 who tested positive on Monday, 21 are males and 11 females. Among the 32 new patients, one is an inter-state returnee, nine have been diagnosed with influenza-like illness (ILI), six with severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) and 12 were primary contacts of earlier patients. Contact tracing process of four patients is on.
One death was reported on Monday. The victim, a woman, was a 60-year-old resident of Ullal. The woman, was getting treated for ailments related to liver and heart. She was also suffering from diabetes.
A total of 29 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 6,929 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 30 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,901 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 4 on Monday, and a total of 4,872 have completed 14 days of quarantine. As many as 801 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 71 people are in isolation wards, including 10 fresh admissions on Monday. Among them, two are coronavirus suspects, four each have SARI and influenza-like illness.
As many as 1,013 people, including 12 on Monday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 14,268 samples have been collected so far, including 35 on Monday, out of which 6 are COVID contacts and 15 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 12,862 samples have turned out to be negative, including 74 on Monday, and 209 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,197 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, including 18 on Monday. As many as 1,056 patients have been discharged so far including five on Monday, and 139 cases are currently active. Two deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
Among the 18 new cases reported on Monday, five have travel history to Maharashtra, four are returnees from Bengaluru, and nine cases are from Udupi including one nurse from Hebri community health centre and the cook of a local restaurant whose source of infection is being traced.
