Bengaluru, Jun 29: The state government has embarked on a programme to provide need-based skills development training to help youth, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said on Monday.
He was speaking after inaugurating a Skills Connect Portal by the Karnataka Skills Development Corporation in Vidhana Soudha.
The Skills Development Training Programme taken up by the Karnataka Skills Development Corporation will help the youth of Karnataka, Yediyurappa said.
The Chief Minister said the Skills Connect Portal being launched by the Karnataka Skills Development Corporation is aimed at connecting all stakeholders pertaining employment, skills and job-seekers as well as industries.
Those seeking jobs, employers and training centers, industries, national and international agencies and governments are proposed to be linked to each other for mutual benefit through the Skills Connect Portal, he explained.
Unemployed youth as well as fresh graduates and other sections of youth will be helped in developing their skills or learning new skills besides getting expertise to make the full use of various programmes being implemented by the government.
The Chief Minister said the Government has proposed to embark upon a talent acceleration programme to provide skills development training to 1000 graduates at a cost of Rs 2 crore and said the State’s Skills Development Department will be spearheading programme.
The State Government has proposed to organize an online job fair on July 7, he said pointing out that the online job fair was being organized to bridge the gap been job-seekers and employers.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwatha Narayana, who is also heading the Entrepreneurship, Skills Development Department, said the Skills Connect Portal would help the youth of Karnataka in landing better jobs and also provide a platform to upgrade their skills.
Entrepreneurship, Skills Development Department Secretary S Selvakumar, Karnataka State Skills Development Corporation Managing Directo Ashwin Gowda and representatives of different industries participated in the function.
JSS COVID-19 Lab
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated through online the new COVID-19 laboratory being established by the JSS Hospital in Mysuru.
State Cooperation Minister S T Somashekar attended the function.
