Udupi, Jun 29: "There is no need for anyone to panic with regards to coronavirus infection to the girl student who wrote SSLC examination at Hejamady. As deputy commissioner (DC), I am with you as well as the education department is also with you," said DC G Jagadeesha.
He visited the Hejamady examination centre and spoke with the students. Later speaking to the media he said, "The girl student has contracted coronavirus infection from her father and not from the examination centre. There is no need for students who wrote exams alongside the infected girl student and their parents to panic.
"The infected girl student is studying in the hospital and her health is good. She will be allowed to write examination in the coming days. Usually in other examination centres, a distance of three feet is maintained between students. However, in this examination centre a distance of six feet is maintained due to this incident. None of the students, who are writing the examination in this centre are absent. I have to appreciate the boldness of the students writing examinations at Hejamady center. Our aim is to complete the examination process without any inconvenience to the students,” he said.
Vishalakshi Putran, Hejamady gram panchayat president, Sudhakar Karkera, vice president, education officer Shesha Shayana Karinje and police officers of Padubidri were present.
