Chamarajnagar: Lab technician tests positive, corona testing lab sealed down

Chamarajnagar, Jun 28: The COVID laboratory that was functioning at the Chamarajnagar Medical college has been sealed down as the lab technician who was conducting coronavirus tests, tested positive for the virus.

The 29-year-old woman, resident of Badanaguppe village, who was working as a lab technician in the COVID testing lab had tested positive for coronavirus along with her husband. In the wake of this, the testing laboratory was sealed from the evening of Saturday itself after sanitizing it. The tests are temporarily suspended.

This laboratory was installed at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore recently. The laboratory was testing the throat swabs of not only Chamrajnagar district but also of Ramanagar and Udupi districts. The laboratory also had the distinction of providing accurate results in the whole state.

Sources at the medical college informed that the COVID-19 related tests that were being conducted in this lab were temporarily suspended and the results of Sunday's tests might be inordinately delayed.
