Mandya, Jun 28: "Hate politics is prevailing in the K R Pet constituency of the district. MLA and minister Narayana Gowda of BJP is using his political clout to harass JD (S) workers and leaders," alleged JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister Deve Gowda.
The former PM has written a letter in this regard to CM Yediyurappa and also warned that he would sit in protest in front of the residence of the CM on June 29 if protection is not given to the workers of JD (S) by the BJP government.
K R Pet legilative constituency, which was the fortress of JD (S) went to BJP after the assembly by elections. Narayana Gowda who defected from JD (S) to BJP won from this constituency and also became the minister in Yediyurappa's government. Now Deve Gowda has accused Narayana Gowda of carrying out hate politics and atrocities on JD (S) workers of the constituency.
In his letter released to the press Deve Gowda said, "Hate politics is being carried out at K R Pet of Mandya district. A very bad political environment, which was not seen in past 60 years in the taluk, is prevailing now.
The minister of K R Pet is trying to take election revenge on H T Manju, a common worker of JD (S). Though Manju has got all the necessary permission and licence to carry out stone crusher and quarry mining, he is not allowed to carry out his business due to local politics, alleged Deve Gowda.
"I have written separate letters to chief minister, deputy chief minister, ministers of revenue, mines and geology also. I have requsted to allow H T Manju to carry out his business legally," he said.
"If the government does not show any transparency in this issue I will sit in protest in front of the residence of CM Yediyurappa on June 29. I have brought this to the notice of CM through letter."
Minister and MLA of K R Pet Narayana Gowda held a press conference with regard to the letter written by Deve Gowda. The minister said, "The crusher owner Manju is carrying out stone quarry business illegally. He has not paid royalty. He has built a house in Mysuru in the illegally earned money. Due to Manju's quarry Sahukar Chennaiah canal is completely spoilt. There are documents to prove this. I will present the documents in front of Deve Gowda. I need some time for this. I request former PM Deve Gowda not to sit in protest in this regard."
Responding to minister Narayana Gowda's accusation, crusher owner Manju said, "I have not conducted any business illegally. Former PM has visited my quarry and inspected the process himself. As all the records are intact, former PM Deve Gowda has resorted to sit in protest. I will also participate in the protest. I have not built any complex in Mysuru. If Narayana Gowda shows with document that I own a complex in Mysuru, I will transfer the same to his name."
Protest withdrawn
However, Deve Gowda on Sunday June 28 announced that he has withdrawn the proposed sit-in protest in front of the residence of CM Yediyurappa on June 29 as the BJP government has agreed to most of his demands.
Tweeting in this regard, Deve Gowda said, "CM Yediyurappa and minister for mines and geology have partly agreed to my demands of the political developments and scenario prevailing in Mandya district. So, the sit in protest that was to be held on June 29 in front of the residence of CM is withdrawn."
Deve Gowda had earlier accused minister Narayana Gowda of carrying out vengence politics on stone quarry crusher owner H T Manju, who also is a common JD (S) worker. However, Narayana Gowda had clarified in his defence that crusher owner Manju is illegally conducting the quarry business due to which the Sahukar Chenniah canal has completely got spoilt.
