Kasargod, Jun 27: Kumble station police on Saturday June 27 confiscated alcohol being transported by car and stored in large quantities and arrested a Bandyodu resident in this connection.
The arrested person is identified as Bandyodu Veeranagar resident Ajay (38).
Police who were inspecting vehicles near Kumble on Saturday signalled a car that came on the road to stop. But it fled without stopping. Therefore, the police personnel chased it when those in the vehicle left the car at Anantapur and fled. But police personnel succeeded in catching one of them.
As many as 17 boxes of liquor were found in the car when it was inspected. When Ajay was taken into custody and questioned, he confessed that liquor was stored in a shed near his residence. As many as 6,338 liquor bottles stored in the shed in Bandyodu Veeranagar have been confiscated.
The accused has reportedly confessed that the liquor was transported from Karnataka when the lockdown was relaxed. Investigation is in progress.
