UK-based man booked for threatening Goa NGO

Panaji, Jun 25: Goa police on Saturday filed First Information Report against Goa born UK based person for threatening a NGO member.

Old Goa police filed case against one Sylvester Cardozo for threatening member of NGO Hope Foundation Andrea Pereira.

As per police complaint, the threatening call was received on June 22, hours after Pereira had congratulated Goa Police for cracking down a shoot out case between two gangs at St Cruz village.

The NGO member had met Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh congratulating him for prompt action against the gangsters, while urging him to ensure that all the existing gangs in the area should be acted upon.

The gang fight had left one dead on June 20.

Police Inspector Krishna Sinari said that the offence has been registered against the accused for threatening NGO member with dire consequences.

Cardozo is a Goan who is currently based in the UK, he said.

Police have arrested more than 20 accused in connection with the shootout case.
