Udupi, Feb 17: ‘Pratista Mahotsav’, the annual worship of Sri Vishwanath was held on Tuesday February 16 at Sri Vishwanath Temple, Katpady, near here. Sri Kshetra Vishwanath is the second largest domain of the Billava community in undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
The Mahotsav began early morning on Tuesday with the ceremonious installation of the idol of Sri Vishwanath and concluded with night vigil and puja rites at midnight on Tuesday.
Sri Kshetra chief priest Devdas Shanti and Janardhan Shanti from Karkala performed various Vedic rites on the occasion.
The Sri Vishwanath Temple is also the abode of Sri Annapoorneshwari, Lord Ganapati, Lord Krishna, and Sri Subramanya who are worshipped by a large number of devotees from across the undivided Dakshina Kannada district, especially during the Pratista Mahotsav.
Sri Kshetra Vishwanath managing committee honorary president Jaya C Suvarna, executive president Dayanand Bangera, secretary Jagannath Kote, vice-president Katpady Shankar Poojary, former state minister Vasant V Salian, former MP Vinaykumar Sorake, zilla panachayat member Sarasu D Bangera, taluk panchayat member Chandrahas Poojary, and Naveen Amin Shankarapura attended the Mahotsav.
