Mangaluru, Jun 26: Two more people in Ullal tested positive on Friday June26. One of them is Ullal police station assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and the other is a 25-year-old man.

The 25-year-old resident near Summer Sands, Ullal, who had visited two of his friends, had returned from Saudi Arabia. As his friends were tested positive, he was kept in home quarantine for the last six days. As he too was tested positive on Friday, six houses in the building where his flat is situated were sealed down. Theirty-five people are kept in quarantine. Twenty-four people from eight houses in the residence quarters at Bangera lane in which Ullal ASI stays are also kept in quarantine.

Throat swabs of 25 people are sent for tests

Throat swabs of 25 people near the house of a woman in Ullal, Azadnagar who had died of the virus, have been collected for tests. More people in the area are likely to be examined on Saturday.

As the virus has spread in community level in Ullal town limits, Ullal council commissioner Rayappa has asked shop keepers in Ullal Kodi, Kotepura, Ullalbailu main road, Thokkottu inner road, Manchila, Alekala, Thokkottu junction, Thokkottu bus stand, Margashile Kallapu, Shivajinagar, Pandithhouse and Kuthar to keep their shops closed till 1 pm for sanitization.

In another case, a 54-year-old man was tested positive in Asaigoli. He is under treatment at Wenlock hospital. Eighteen staff members on duty in Udupi including ARSI were in quarantine in separate room after work. The throat swabs of all of them were sent for tests. One of them was tested positive. Quarantine of remaining staff members is being continued. The infected person is being treated.
