Udupi, Jun 26: Local groups and organizations joined and held blood donation camps even during the corona pandemic in a campaign against it, said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha.

He was speaking at the World Blood Donor’s Day programme and voluntary blood donor’s camp held here.

"The district administration does not want the spread of coronavirus. People have the feeling that coronavirus is over. It is not over yet. Some people go about without wearing masks and without maintaining social distance. They are the agents for spreading the virus. A fine will be imposed and suitable stringent action will be taken against them in the future."



Rayan Fernandes Kurkal, Nandan Shetty Amasebailu, Manikanta Kharvi Sasthan, Gayatri Upadhyaya Udupi. Sudhaker Nayak Kabiyadi and Girija Suvarna Saligrama were felicitated by the DC for donating blood maximum number of times.

ASP Kumarchandra, DHO Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda, district AIDS controller Dr Chidananda Sanju, district surgeon Madhusoodan Nayak, district government employee’s association president Subrahmanya Sheregar, Badagubettu cooperative society general manager Jayakar Shetty Indrali and others were present.

Manjunath compered the programme. Mahabaleshwar rendered the vote of thanks.
