Mangaluru: Mattar Rathnakar Hegde bestowed minister’s rank

Mangaluru, Jun 26: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa appointed Mattar Rathnakar Hegde as president of the coastal development authority a few months ago. The CM bestowed the position of minister upon him on considering his activities.

Hegde was Udupi BJP district president for four years. He won the confidence of all the leaders, encouraged the activists, strengthened the party at booth level and received praises from all the leaders. He maintained good rapport with RSS uniting the party and was instrumental for victory of the party in all five Vidhan Sabha constituencies.

He was loved by all the MLAs. He had made the MP win Udupi-Chikkamagaluru seat by joint effort of the activists and MLAs. The chief minister who recognised his hard work, relationship with the leaders, appreciation by the leaders of the sangha and support of the party state president appointed him president of coastal development authority and provided him the rank of minister.

He was leader of the student’s associations during his student days, grew in the company of political leaders as APMC president, director of state agriculture marketing board, member of Law university syndicate, president of Udupi advocate’s bar association, correspondent of Shirva Central School and served in social, spiritual and educational sectors.

He was instrumental in the renovation of nearly 12 temples. He was the president of Padubidri Padebettu Subrahmanya temple auditorium construction committee. He had also contested once in the Udupi Lok Sabha elections.

“We have taken the initiative of completing the projects taken up despite the corona pandemic. The DC is likely to open an office in Udupi as per directions from the chief minister. With it the developmental works will pick up speed,” he said.
