Udupi: Illegally dug sand from Swarna river seized, complaint filed in court

Udupi, Jun 25: Gautham Shastri, scientist of geology, Department of Mining and Geology had conducted a raid on May 16 and confiscated about 70 metric tonnes of sand, mud and stone mixed slush stored on Survey No. 87/1 P1P1 Patta land in Shirur village limits. A complaint in PCA and JMFC court is filed against Yojaka India Private Limited representatives Dayananda Mallya and Ashok Jogi who had obtained a contract for dredging in Swarna river. A declaration that they will not shift the land, mud was signed by them on June 24.

It has come to light that about 20 metric tonnes of sand out of confiscated sand has been stolen and transported by Dayananda Mallya, Ashok Jogi and others. A case in this connection was registered in Hiriadka police station.
