Moodbidri, Feb 15: A newly constructed “Loyola Children Play Park” near St Ignatius Loyola Higher Primary School, Paladka here was inaugurated by spiritual director and parish priest Fr Stanley Rodrigues on Sunday February 14.
The park was established at an approximate cost of Rs 4.0 lac by Catholic Sabha, Paladka unit in association with St Ignatius Loyola Church, Paladka and Joy Paladka.
Fr Ln Vincent D’Souza, Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Church blessed the occasion. Addressing the gathering he lauded the efforts of Catholic Sabha, Paladka unit for their stupendous work of construction of the Park for a social cause and said that children are like God and making them smile is a greatest service to the lord. He specially applauded the role of president of Catholic Sabha, Hilary D’Souza and Joy Paladka in making the project a success. He also praised all the donors who backed the project.
Later a programme was conducted inside the church hall in which the vice-president of Govlik Parishad Sri.Vincent Sequeira was the chairperson and secretary Denis D’Mello, Hilary D’Souza, president of the Catholic Sabha, secretary Victor D’Souza, treasurer Andrew Serrao, Josina of St Ignatius Convent, Paladka Dr Roshan Pinto of Fr Muller’s, Kankanady, Sadashiva Rai, P D of Sri Subramnya Swamy High School, Kadandale were the guests of honour.
Hilary D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Victor D’Souza read the annual report of the activities undertaken by the Catholic Sabha for the year 2009- 2010.
Joy Paladka said that health is very important and the main purpose of having a play park in Paladka is to keep the children fit and healthy.
Six important achievers in different fields, Hilary Cardoza, writer, Salvadore Rodrigues, writer and editor of ‘Paladkachi Zhar’ magazine, M Devadas Hegde, the best teacher at Dist. level for the year 2009, Andrew D’Souza, president of Primary School Teachers Association, Moodbidri Range, Simon Cardoza, science teacher and national prize winner for guiding the students for Innovation of LPG exhausting indicator and Pradeep Barboza, budding writer, actor and director were honoured at the occasion.
Avil D’Souza compered the programme. Victor D’Souza, secretary of the Sabha proposed the vote of thanks.
