Mangaluru: KSRTC to run long route air-conditioned buses from June 25

Mangaluru, Jun 25: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to introduce air-conditioned buses on certain routes in the state commencing from Thursday, June 25. A few buses will also be run from Mangaluru division of KSRTC including Kundapur and Udupi depots.
 
Over 50 air-conditioned buses used to ply between the twin-districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada to destinations in other districts and state. because of threats posed by a coronavirus, all public bus services were stopped about two months back. 
 
Udupi  KSRTC depot manager, Uday Kumar, said that the corporation's air-conditioned buses belonging to the district are currently in Mangaluru and Bengaluru depots. He said that air-conditioned buses will be introduced from Udupi to Mysuru and Bengaluru from June 26 onward. The air-conditioned buses between Mangaluru and Bhatkal will be run on the basis of public demand, he added.
 
KSRTC officials stated that it has been decided not to run air-conditioned buses on Mangaluru - Manipal route for the present. On this route, eight buses used to ply in the past.
 
Normal sleeper bus services have already been introduced from Mangaluru and Puttur KSRTC divisions. Sleeper buses are already plying from Puttur, Dharmasthala, Sullia and Madikeri depots.
