Mangaluru, Jun 25: A police sub-inspector (SI) of Ullal station and two others were found infected with coronavirus. A 57-year-old woman had died at the private hospital in Thokkottu. Therefore, the private hospital authorities voluntarily sealed down their premises. Ullal police station also will be sealed down after it is shifted to a private area.
The woman from Ullal had got admitted into a private hospital at Thokkottu for dysentery. She had got admitted for this problem on June 19. Her throat swab sample was tested and she tested positive. Without responding to treatments, she died on Wednesday. Another woman aged 60, living near the residence of the said woman, also has tested positive. She is undergoing treatment at Wenlock Hospital here.
The fact that the Ullal SI was infected was confirmed on Wednesday. This has made other staff at the station jittery. He had been discharging duty at the Talapady check post since sometime. There is suspicion that he would have got infected when he was at Talapady. As he suffered from fever, he had got admitted into a private hospital at Deralakatte. His throat swab samples were tested and by evening, infection was confirmed. City police commissioner Dr Harsha P S, visited the hospital and ordered for the police station to be sealed down for some days.
