Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 24: On the 17th day of the easing of lockdown, 12 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 14 new cases were detected in Udupi district on Wednesday June 24. One death also was reported in Dakshina Kannada.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 46,651 people have been screened so far, including 557 on Wednesday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 12,251 samples have been sent for tests till date, out of which 11,858 have turned out negative, and 475 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 154 are currently active. As many as 301 persons have recovered and been discharged, and 10 deaths have occurred so far.
As many as 45 patients, 37 males and 8 females including five children were discharged from Wenlock on Wednesday.
A 41-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman are serious and being treated in ICU.
As many as 381 samples were sent for testing on Wednesday. Reports of 45 samples were received on Wednesday, out of which 12 tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 248 samples are awaited.
Among the 12 corona-positive patients tested on Wednesday, there are 8 males and 4 females. Four among them are Sharjah returnees, and one with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and seven with influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms have tested positive.
Further, a 66-year-old woman died due to coronavirus on Wednesday there by taking the death toll in the district to 10. She was a resident of Ullal. She was tested positive in the night on Tuesday, June 23. The woman passed away at a private hospital in Deralakatte. She was reportedly suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, and hypothyroidism.
A total of 26 persons have been admitted for observation.
Altogether, 6,496 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. A total of 29 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) have been reported so far.
Udupi
As many as 14 people including two children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Wednesday. Among the 14 patients, eight are males and six females. Nine are Maharashtra returnees, one has travelled from Bengaluru, three have contracted infection from P-3851, and the source of infection of one more patient is being traced.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,873 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including 5 on Wednesday, and a total of 4,871 have completed 14 days of quarantine, including one on Wednesday. As many as 687 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 78 people are in isolation wards, including 8 fresh admissions on Wednesday. Among them, five have SARI and three influenza-like illness.
As many as 947 people, including 10 on Wednesday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 13,733 samples have been collected so far, including 107 on Wednesday, out of which 29 are COVID contacts and 7 are COVID suspects. Out of them, 12,233 samples have turned out to be negative, including 51 on Wednesday, and 398 reports are awaited.
As many as 1,102 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, out of which 987 patients have been discharged so far including 9 on Wednesday, and 113 cases are currently active. Two deaths have occurred so far. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
