Bengaluru, Jun 23: Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has directed officials of the Water Resources and Minor Irrigation departments to expedite the progress of the Yettinahole and KC Valley projects.
The chief minister gave the direction to officials when a delegation of elected representatives from Kolar district met him in Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and discussed the progress of Yettinahole and KC Valley projects on Tuesday.
Under KC Valley project, 400 MLD treated water has to be released. But only 284 MLD treated water was being received from Bengaluru. The CM noted that rainwater is wasted in the city during monsoon and directed BWSSB to take immediate steps to check this.
The water that is wasted during monsoon could be made available for treatment, he said asking the officials to step up the treatment capacity of STPs. The chief minister also assured the delegation that the Yettinahole works would be expedited by removing all hurdles in the land acquisition in order to speed up the work.
The water resources minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, minor irrigation minister J C Madhuswamy, excise and Kolar district in-charge minister K Nagesh, Lok Sabha member S Muniswamy, former Speaker of the Assembly and Congress MLA K R Ramesh Kumar and other legislators, senior officers of the government were present.
