Mangaluru: Intermittent rainfall recorded - Subrahmanya clocks 9 cm rain

Mangaluru, Jun 23: Coastal districts received occasional rainfall with gaps in between on Monday June 22. Subrahmanya in Dakshina Kannada district and Kadra in Uttara Kannada received 9 cm rainfall each, which was the highest in the state.

Other places in the coast also received between six and eight cm rainfall.

As the sea erosion worsened at Musody and Manimunda in Hanuman Nagar, Uppala, two families living in Hanuman Nagar were evacuated to safer places. Some more houses too are facing risk from the sea erosion.

Due to strong wind and rain, the house of Nitish, living in Havanje village, Brahmavar taluk, was partially damaged. Houses of Bhaskar Nayak from Neelavar and Gopalakrishna in Varambally were also damaged.

The meteorological department has issued yellow alert from June 23 to 25 and orange alert on June 26 and 27.
