Bengaluru, Jun 23: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police here have taken Yousuf Bachkana, an associate of underworld fugitive, Bannanje Raja, into custody through body warrant.

Bachkana was in Ballari central prison since the last 12 years after being sentenced for life in the murder case of builder Subbaraju. He has been taken into custody in connection with the investigation into cases against Ravi Poojary.

Bachkana was working for both Chota Rajan and Bannanje Raja. The police have filed a charge sheet in the court about Muttappa Rai having got builder Subbaraju murdered with the help of Bachkana. In a curious development, the police have dropped the name of Bannanje Raja from the charge sheet in this case. It is said that Bachkana, who got angry that he was not treated well after his services were used to murder Subbaraju leading to his sentencing, had even planned to kill Muttappa Rai with the help of Bannanje Raja.

Later, the Bengaluru police, with the help of the Interpol, had taken Bannanje Raja into custody from Morocco. He is in jail now. Ravi Poojary reportedly helped the police in the past to arrest Bannanje. Ravi Poojary had helped the state police as Bannanje Raja was in the opposite camp, it is said. The police action in taking Bachkana into custody has aroused curiosity.

During the questioning, it transpired that Bachkana had come out of Bannanje camp and joined the Ravi Poojary camp. As Bachkana and Ravi Poojary got involved with several crimes together, the police have been questioning him by keeping him in an undisclosed destination.
