Udupi, Jun 22: “Farming is a form of service to the nation. Our elders believed that leaving land idle is a sin. Land should never be left idle,” said MLA K Raghupathi Bhat.
He was speaking at an agriculture campaign held on June 22 on the 50th anniversary of Udupi Nittur High school.
“Agriculture is important for the economical progress of the country. It is necessary to inform the current youth about farming,” he said. He planted a paddy sapling and set the programme in motion.
Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha, local municipal council members Santhosh Jathan, Balakrishna Shetty, Nittur high school headmaster Murali Kadekar, Suvarna Parva president Yogish Chandradhar, treasurer Pradeep Jogi, Nittur high school vice president S V Bhat, secretary Bhasker D Suvarna, Nittur Hadilu Gadde managing committee head Ranjan, local people and others were present.
