Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 20: Four new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in Dakshina Kannada, while 13 fresh cases were reported in Udupi on Saturday June 20.
In Dakshina Kannada, a total of 45,654 people have been screened so far, including 223 on Saturday.
As per the district health bulletin, a total of 11,595 samples have been sent for tests so far, out of which 11,113 have tested negative, and 426 positive, including 10 persons from other districts. Out of these, 197 are currently active. As many as 221 persons have recovered and been discharged, and eight deaths have occurred so far.
As many as 14 males and one female were discharged from Wenlock on Saturday.
As many as 116 samples were sent for testing on Saturday. Reports of 121 samples were received on Saturday, out of which four tested positive and the rest negative. Reports of 56 samples are awaited.
Among the four corona-positive patients on Saturday, there are three males and one female. Two among them have travelled from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, one from Maharashtra, while the remaining one has contracted the infection from P-8005, an influenza-like illness 22-year-old patient, who tested positive on June 19.
As many as 22 persons have been admitted for observation.
A total of 6,181 people have been treated at fever clinics so far. On Saturday, 28 cases of severe acute respiratory illness (SARI) were reported. As many as 20 people were screened in mobile fever clinics on Saturday.
Udupi
As many as 13 people including three children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Saturday. Among the 13 patients, nine are male and four female. Ten are Maharashtra returnees, one has travelled from Bengaluru, one has contracted infection from P-5451, a lab technician tested positive earlier, and the source of infection of one more patient is being traced.
As per the health bulletin released by the Udupi district administration, a total of 4,836 people have completed 28 days of quarantine, including seven on Saturday, and a total of 4,865 have completed 14 days of quarantine including one on Saturday. As many as 751 persons are currently in home quarantine.
A total of 72 people are in isolation wards, including 15 fresh admissions on Saturday. Among them, four are coronavirus suspects, five have SARI and six influenza-like illness.
As many as 914 people, including 11 on Saturday, have been discharged from isolation wards so far.
A total of 13,300 samples have been collected so far, including 73 on Saturday, out of which 10 are COVID contacts. Out of them, 12,055 samples have turned out to be negative, including 109 on Saturday, and 182 reports are awaited. As many as 1,063 confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported so far in the district, with 102 cases being currently active. As many as 959 patients including nine on Saturday who recovered have been discharged from hospital. Two deaths have occurred in the district. One positive case has been transferred to Dakshina Kannada.
