Four including 2 overseas returnees test corona-positive in DK, 13 cases in Udupi on Jun 20

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 20: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday June 20, reported four new cases. As many as 13 fresh cases were detected in Udupi.

Among the four corona-positive patients, there are three males and one female. Two among them have travelled from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, one from Maharashtra, while the remaining one has contracted the infection from P-8005, an influenza-like illness 22-year-old patient, who tested positive on June 19. 

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada district so far has reached 426 (including 10 cases from other districts), among which 197 are currently active. As many as 221 patients including 15 on Saturday who recovered have been discharged from hospital. Eight deaths have occurred in the district.

As many as 13 people including three children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district on Saturday. Among the 13 patients, nine are male and four female. Ten are Maharashtra returnees, one has travelled from Bengaluru, one has contracted infection from P-5451, a lab technician tested positive earlier, and the source of infection of one more patient is being traced. 

The total number of cases in Udupi is 1,063 with only 102 cases being currently active. As many as 959 patients including nine on Saturday who recovered have been discharged from hospital. Two deaths have occurred in the district including one on Saturday.
