Justice Anil Dave Sworn as Bombay HC Chief Justice

Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice Anil Ramesh Dave took oath as the new Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court (HC), here on Thursday February 11.
 
The Governor of Maharashtra Sankaranarayanan administered the oath of office to Justice Dave at Raj Bhavan. Justice Dave succeeds Justice Swatanter Kumar who has been elevated to the Supreme Court of India.
 

 

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, minister for protocol Suresh Shetty, acting Chief Justice of the Bombay HC Jay Narayan Patel, other judges of the Bombay HC, Upa-Lokayukta Johny Joseph, director general of police Anami Roy and eminent persons from various fields attended the oath taking ceremony. Chief secretary J P Dange read out the notification of appointment of the new chief justice.
 
Born on November 19 1951, Justice Dave obtained his LLM and ACA (Chartered Accountant). He enrolled as an advocate on July 25 1976.
 
Justice Dave served as solicitor to the Government of Gujarat and additional government pleader, Gujarat High Court from April 1986 to August 1994. He was a part-time lecturer in Sir L A Shah Law College from 1976 to September 1995.
 
Justice Dave was elevated to the Bench of the Gujarat High Court as additional judge on September 18 1995. He was appointed as Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on January 7 2008.
