Abu Dhabi, Jun 18: Saif Al Dhaheri, speaking on behalf of the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, informed the media on Wednesday June 17 about the travel procedures for both UAE citizens and residents. It may be recalled that the authorities have already announced June 23 as the date on which the travel segment will begin to serve the people.
Three groups have been formed based on perceived danger at the proposed destinations. The first group of destinations are those which are not considered as dangerous to travel to. The second group is of medium risk destinations. This can be for medical reason or family visits. The third group is of high risk destinations.
The administration will allow only a limited number of people forming a group to travel to medium risk destinations under emergency situations for health treatment or family visit of first degree, or also for military, diplomatic, and official missions.
For obtaining approval for travel, the citizens and residents have to submit applications through the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship website and register with Tawajudi app.
People aged over 70 are not allowed to travel. Every traveller needs to undergo COVID-19 test 48 hours before travelling, and all the travellers have to register before undertaking the trip. Every traveller should be covered by medical insurance and they have to give consent for health quarantine upon arrival. The people cannot change their destinations after registering or booking travel.
When a traveller is tested when outside the UAE and the COVID - 19 test result is positive, the respective UAE embassy should be informed immediately.
On his return from a trip, if the traveller cannot undergo home quarantine, he has to undergo quarantine in a hotel at his own cost.
On his return from the trip, the traveller must undergo PCR test at an approved medical facility within 48 hours of entering the country. On their return, the travellers have to undergo 14 days home quarantine. This quarantine period can be cut to seven days for people returning from less dangerous destinations or professionals in vital sectors.
Both the residents and citizens have to fill in necessary health responsibility forms which include pledge to undergo quarantine on return, and a pledge not to travel to destinations other than the ones mentioned in the form.
