Bengaluru: Minister C T Ravi takes to teaching Kannada online to non-Kannadigas

Bengaluru, Jun 17 (IANS): Karnataka minister for Tourism, Kannada and Culture, CT Ravi, on Wednesday said that he has taken up the task of teaching the Kannada language to all non-Kannadigas living in the southern state.

"Namaskara all, I have taken up the task of teaching Kannada to all non-Kannadigas residing in Karnataka. They are in Karnataka and they are our people, so it's our responsibility to teach them our language," said Ravi.

He said his team will be posting spoken Kannada language lessons every day to help non-Kannadigas to learn and use his mother tongue.

"I request you all to promote the initiative among your friends and help me reach more and more non-Kannadiga brothers and sisters living in Karnataka," Ravi said.

Posting his first language lesson on Tuesday, the minister shared some basic phrases in English and their translation in Kannada.

Under Conversation 1 as part of Kannada lesson 1, Ravi shared basic greetings and identifications such as, Good morning - Namaskara, I am Deepak - Naanu Deepak, He is Anil - Ivaru Anil and Who is he? - Avanu yaaru? among others.

As part of Conversation 2, he tried teaching people how to identify professions. I am a Kannada teacher - Naanu Kannada mestru, I am a doctor - Naanu doctor, She is a nurse - Avaru nurse and others.

Ravi posted two more lessons on Wednesday with more phrases and Kannada vocabulary.

"Please read my tweets every day and anyone can learn Kannada in the coming days. A little effort to learn Kannada will go a long way in winning the hearts of some of the most wonderful people on earth," he added.

If you live in Mangalore and mingle with local people, automatically you will pick Tulu from friends and neighbours.. no need to go to Youtube..."youtube sites" mentioned by you is not required...if you wish to learn Tulu without mingling with locals, you can go to youtube (not "youtube sites").... you can search in google about tulu learning resources...if you do want to use youtube, search in youtube search box...genuine keenness to learn local language is required, not 'showbaazi'...

Sunil, there are so many videos for beginners to learn tulu... Like bale tulu kalpuga....learning tulu sentences and so on.... Along with this you can start watching some tulu comedy videos like bale telepale... Prashamsa kaup team though they are professionals, they speak clearly and beautifully which we can understand 50percent in the beginning... like wise you can watch comedy scenes of Navin Padil Sir, Arvind bolar, Bhojraj sir and kapikad Sir....There are so many comedy videos but they speak fast and professionally which we find difficult to follow.... Any way if you are interested keep watching the videos.....listen carefully. I learnt tulu through listening you tube videos.... Now I watch everyday one hour without fail.... Good luck...

Does anyone stop you from 'overfloing' Kerala's stations or airports. People from Kerala are more adventurous which is a good thing. Why can't we be more adventurous too ?

You Tube is full of Kannada learning and other software made easy to learn kannada if any one eagar to learn. People voted MLA and MP to serve them such as Good Education in less fee, Good Hospitals in cheaper rate to provide Electricity and Water , Transportation in affordable rate.

Since language is just for comunication they can choose what ever language to comunicate since india is multi language society.

It would be helpful if MLA and MP work more on controlling Corona Virus and creating more jobs so that people can servive from this pandamic.

He is not teaching hate lesson, he is teaching Kannada to non kannadigas settled in Karnataka, great initiative.
Do you know Kannada? If interested learn from him or online, than wasting your time in writing silly comments and making fool of yourself. Lockdown is best time to learn.

I was born in Mangalore, but did all my education in Bhopal (MP) and abroad, but learnt Tulu (spoken), Kannanada (Spoken, read & write) and Konkani (spoken), online and also trying to talk to Kannadigas & watching Tulu, Kannada movies & dramas, took lessons to read & write.
    Now learning Japanese & Spanish.
