Udupi: Asha workers, nurses felicitated for service during lockdown period

Udupi, Jun 17: A recognition cum felicitation programme was held on Wednesday June 17 at Our Lady of Health Church Shirva for the Asha workers and nurses of the Community Health Centre Shirva and Shirva panchayat water supply and water management staff for their prompt, selfless and dedicated service during the lockdown period due to coronavirus epidemic.

The programme was hosted by Catholic Sabha, Shirva unit and Stri Sanghatan of Shirva Pradesh.

Shirva Church parish priest, Fr Denis D’sa, assistant parish priest, P R Ashwyn Aranha and Fr Rohan Dias, along with special invitees Shaila Dundappa, sub-inspector, Shirva Police station, Dr santhosh Kumar Bailoor, chief doctor of Community Health Center Shirva, Vijay, village accountant, Shirva gram panchayat, Wilson Rodrigues, zilla panchayath member, Leena Machado, secretary, finance committee, Shirva church, Jerald Rodrigues, president, Catholic Sabha Shirva unit and Agnes Barboza, president, Stri Sanghatan of Shirva church unit were present.



During the programme felicitated with gift items, were as many as 27 Asha workers and 7 nurses of the Community Health Center Shirva and 10 Shirva panchayat water distribution department and waste management staff for their excellent service to the people during the lockdown period.

Dr Santhosh Kumar Bailoor, sub inspector Shaila Dundappa and Fr Dennis D’sa spoke on the occasion and conveyed their messages on how each one can help to restrict the spread of virus to others for selfless services.

A special individual honour was made to Santhosh Kumar, Shaila Dundappa and to V A Vijay with shawl, garland, fruit basket and with a fit wrap. Special invitees of Kaup Taluk Tahashildar Mohammad Issac and Shirva panchayat development officer could not attend the programme, due to unavoidable circumstances and they expressed their inability to attend.

Jerald Rodrigues, president, Catholic Sabha Shirva unit welcomed the gathering.

Melwyn Aranha gave the vote of thanks to the guests and to those present at the programme, to the media personnel and to the donors.

The programme was compered by Gilbert Pinto, headmaster of the Shirva Church school.
