Panaji, Jun 16: PWD minister Deepak Pauskar on Monday, June 15 said that last year high-quality repair works have been carried out which would ease the difficulties faced by commuters this monsoon unlike what they faced in 2019.
He said that the village roads hardly saw any damage and that mainly the national highway roads saw extensive damage in the last monsoon.
Pauskar said, "Last year, most of the roads damaged were national highways and not village roads. We have completed hotmix carpet for most village roads. The rest will be done from October. Citizens will get to travel on good roads, we have ensured that. Goa receives heavy rainfall, due to which the soil softens and damages roads. This time, the works have been quality works, and this year the damage will not be like last year."
The minister said that although the chief minister has implemented some austerity measures, and there is a shortage of funds, but the works would not stop and the contracts allotted for works on all road, water supply and sewage works by the PWD in 2019 would continue in the state.
