Mangalore, Feb 9: Samanvaya Mangalore and Ursuline Franciscan Educational Society, Deralakatte jointly organized a three-day residential workshop on Virtues at Somarpann Generalate Conference Hall, Deralakatte, recently.
Ursuline Franciscan superior general Sr Doreen D’Souza lighted the lamp and inaugurated the workshop.
In her inaugural address Sr Doreen said, “Values can be acquired with efforts and virtues needs to be polished regularly. Before preaching and teaching about values, let all of us practice them and polish the virtues found in us.”
Dr Padmini Pai from Australia was the resource person. She guided the workshop activities through creative methods. Group discussions, songs, skits, played an important role in the workshop. Speaking the language of virtues, teachable moments, setting boundaries, honouring the spirit and spiritual companioning were the five key points around which the workshop was built.
In all 19 participants from the states of Karnataka and Kerala received certificates from Sr Doreen at the end of the workshop.
Sr Lilly Fernandes, secretary of Ursuline Franciscan Educational Society, who took initiative and responsibility to organize the workshop, welcomed the participants in the beginning. The director of Samanvaya Dr Ronald Cutinha conducted the evaluation of the workshop.
